Description
This wine deliberately eschews the modern style of taut and fine-boned expressions of Chardonnay, offering a defiant reclamation of the middle ground where body, flavour & palate weight co-exist with structure, texture and restrained acidity.
Complex fruit characters of white nectarine, saffron, Pink Lady apple, chamomile flower, cashews and Leatherwood honey work in concert with a tactile interplay of chalk, silkiness and Beurre Bosc pear-like texture. Subtle acidity provides the backbone conveying the fruit and weight to a resounding finish.
Ageing potential of 10+ years

About this company
Levantine Hill is a Yarra Valley estate and winery producing fine wines of exceptional quality and finesses that reflect their provenance and terroir, made by renowned wine-maker, Paul Bridgeman. It was founded by the Jreissati family in 2009 and is family-owned. Despite its relative youth, Levantine Hill is winning awards and the plaudits of the biggest names in the industry, producing wines of stunning elegance, and redefining the boundaries of Australian wine. Almost two years ago it added to its Estate cellar door and restaurant Ezard at Levantine Hill, a gastronomic partnership with Teage Ezard, one of Australia’s most highly regarded hatted chefs. The restaurant has become the iconic dining experience in the Yarra Valley. Effort and ambition make all the difference. To create magnificent wine, Levantine Hill works ceaselessly on getting better with every vintage. It does not compromise on a single thing. It hand-harvests, hand sorts and hand plunges. Levantine Hill picks as little as 50 kilograms of grapes at a time, foot crushes them, batch ferments and then matures them in the finest French oak. Wines will only be produced in exceptional years. If nature does not compromise, neither will Levantine Hill.
